For Mother’s Day, I want to celebrate Nigeria’s hardworking and amazing women who deserve celebration every day. I’ll be sharing stories on Facebook and Instagram about mothers I have met—who need a helping hand. It’s not easy being a woman in Nigeria. Women face violence and sexual assault, are punished if they become widows, and are demonized by superstitious church teachings that, with devastating consequences, can also affect their children. While we celebrate Mother’s Day, let’s not forget that without women, there would be no life on Earth. Support a mother who truly needs it.
To Eikimi with love♥️
To Ekemeni with much love from Sweden!
In one of the most dangerous states in West Africa lies the Land of Hope Children’s Center. It’s not an orphanage for street children, but a family—a big one.
Here, 94 children, accused by their own families and communities of being witches, live. They have been abandoned, tortured, and nearly killed, some as young as 1.5 years old.
Land of Hope has legal guardianship over these children. Danish Anja Ringgren Lovén and her husband, David, live with the children, send them to school every day, and maintain a family life filled with love and care.
However, we need support for basic necessities like food, clothing and shoes, furniture, schoolbooks, transportation, and recreational activities.
That’s what your money goes towards.
